My head has been hurting for three months now. It feels like it is in a vice. My doctor has run tons of tests and says there is absolutely nothing wrong with me. I’m pretty sure he thinks the whole thing is in my head- no pun intended. I don’t know what to do and I’m running out of options. He’s been giving me strong pain killers, but will stop those this month because he thinks there is nothing wrong. Could it possibly be something dental? I haven’t been to the dentist in years, but have never had a cavity. Could I have gotten some kind of tooth infection or something?

- Dental Headaches from Jaw Pain
Pamela,
There is nothing more frustrating than a doctor who doesn’t take you seriously. It would have to be a pretty extensive infection to cause the kind of pain you’ve written about and it would have had to spread. My suggestion is you go to see a dentist who also is qualified to diagnose and treat TMJ. You can often find them with a search of TMJ Dentist or TMJ Specialist. TMJ can cause significant head pain. You might also feel jaw pain or have a clicking or popping in your jaw.
Is it possible that you’ve had some sort of trauma to your face? People don’t often realize that TMJ can be brought on from trauma. It can detrimentally affect all of your health.
