I’m considering getting a dental implant instead of a bridge for a missing tooth, but wondered what the percentages are of a dentist damaging the adjacent teeth in the process of putting in an implant.

Of course there is no way to say with 100% certainty that a dentist won’t hit your adjacent teeth because you’ve got the mixture of a human and power tools. In reality, however, there is really nothing to worry about. In fact, one of the great advantages of dental implants verses a bridge is that you won’t need to do anything to the adjacent teeth. With a bridge both teeth on either side of the tooth being replaced would have to be ground down. Not so with an implant.
