I had a tooth extracted about a week ago. I had to go back because there is a sharp piece of bone sticking out and poking my tongue. It is painful for me to do anything. My doctor said this is normal and that it will smooth out after some time. Is this true? I’m hoping to get a dental implant put in its place. Will this affect me getting an implant?

It won’t affect your dental implant. In fact, your dentist is trying to help your implant by not removing bone unnecessarily. You want as much bone support as possible in preparation for the root form of your implant.
Don’t worry. Over the next few weeks your body will smooth it out.
